“Take care of your students, and the research will take care of itself.”
Warren B. Powell, Princeton University
Purpose
Education often significantly impacts society more than research – through our students. Unlike many other fields, every Operations Research (OR) professor is also an educator and can benefit from a dedicated forum to enhance teaching practices. While other EURO forums focus on sharing research, the OR Education Forum provides a space to develop and exchange innovations in OR education.
Our approach includes two main perspectives:
- General teaching strategies: Exploring broader educational techniques that can be applied to OR instruction.
- OR-specific education: Addressing the unique challenges and methodologies involved in teaching OR.
Objective
The OR Education Forum aims to:
- Facilitate the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences in OR education.
- Advance the science of OR education and share best practices, case studies, teaching materials, and educational games.
- Encourage collaboration between members through mutual assistance and joint projects.
- Improve the quality of OR education and training across institutions.
The forum provides a platform for OR instructors to share successful educational practices, innovative teaching methods, curriculum development strategies, and insights into pedagogy. It also offers a space for discussing program assessment and the application of decision sciences in learning.
